Abstract

Community empowerment through education is a crucial step to improve the quality of life, especially in remote villages. English education, as a tool of international communication, plays an important role in opening up opportunities in the fields of education and employment. However, in many remote villages, access to English language education is limited due to a lack of resources and competent teaching staff. This research aims to overcome this gap by providing English language training to children in Sukamakmur Village. This study adopted a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving elementary school age children, teachers and community leaders as informants, and used instruments such as interviews, observation, documentation, and pre-test and post-test. The results showed significant improvements in children's English language skills, especially in speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. Training implemented in a holistic and participatory manner has proven to be effective, with interactive teaching methods, use of technology, and involvement of local communities as key factors. These findings are in line with literature showing that effective learning media and project-based approaches can improve students' language skills. This research also emphasizes the importance of adapting learning materials to local contexts and involving communities in the educational process for optimal results. With these results, it is hoped that the research will provide a model that can be replicated in other villages and become an important contribution in overcoming the gap in English language education in remote areas.
