Abstract

This article aims to explore the role of the constitution as the main pillar in building national and state life with a focus on establishment, stable legal foundation, protection of human rights (HAM), distribution of power and balance, enforcement of law and justice, as well as challenges in maintaining democracy. The method used is document analysis and literature study through books, articles and journals, to investigate the Indonesian constitution and the challenges in maintaining democracy. The results reveal that the constitution has an important role in regulating social and political order in Indonesia, but also faces various challenges in maintaining democratic stability.
